Sekyere East District Is Among The Highest Recorded District With People With Cataract
The medical superintendent of Effiduase government hospital, Dr David Antwi-Agyei has revealed that Sekyere east district is among the highest districts in the country with people affected by cataracts leading to blindness. He said prevalence shows that 10 out of 100 people have the effect of cataracts as compelled to national statistics of 5 out 100 people with cataract which post very danger and hence the need for stakeholders to support the fight against it.

He said those affected individuals’ citizens when healed can contribute their support to the economic activities in the society.
Dr David Antwi-Agyei was speaking to Newsmen during free Cataract surgeries, organized by Effiduase government hospital in collaboration with the national eye care secretariat and Himalayan Cataract Project for the people of Effiduase.
Some of the beneficiaries expressed gratitude to the hospital and partners for the opportunity.
