Sanitation is a key factor for a nation to develop. Ghana, our beloved country faces many challenges in sanitation like improper disposal of both solid and liquid waste. Sanitation helps protect human resources by giving them good health for them to engage in their daily activities to contribute to national development.

As the old saying goes"cleanliness is next to Godliness" and every developed nation has a way of managing waste that will benefit them economically but my beloved country is in mess in terms of waste management. Flooding occurring during rainy seasons all because of waste polythene bags and plastic bottles which are choked in our gutters. 

Our central business areas are filled with polythenes and plastic waste which is heart-paining to all patriotic citizens. As a teenager, it is sometimes hearting paining when I see non -degradable waste (polythene bags and plastic bottles) covering our environment. It became necessary for me as a student, to do something to curb the menace and that is why I have come out with an innovative idea that will help us to ensure clean Ghana today and maintain it for future generations.

Polythene and plastic bottles that live with us in our environment for thousands of years without been decomposed can now be recycled to make paving bricks with my innovation which does not only solves the sanitary problems but also benefit society and the nation as a whole. Unlike the other bricks which they use special sand which has the possibility of causing land degradation.

The newly invented bricks do not depend on special sand which helps reduce the rate at which our land is been degraded for building purposes. when the non-degraded components of the waste are recycled into paving bricks the organic component can be used to make fertilizers for planting which will increase crop yield leading to economic growth.

polythene bags and plastic bottles are resistant to water so the invented bricks will remain their strength for longer periods .ln summary, if my innovation is taken into consideration and is invested in, Ghana would surely see an enormous improvement in waste management and sanitation. Ensuring clean Ghana today and maintaining it for future generations is my priority. There is more within to unlock.
