Legon Cities to Officially Sign Asamoah Gyan
The Communications Director for Accra-based club, Legon Cities has revealed that the club is yet to sign “Baby Jet” Asamoah Gyan, although there have been negotiations between the club and the player.
Speaking in an interview on FOX FM, Kwame Dwomoh mentioned that, no official agreement exists between Legon Cities and the management of the former general captain of the senior national team, the Black Stars.
“There have been negotiations between Legon Cities and the entourage of Asamoah Gyan, but there is nothing concrete about it. Legon Cities has been considering the commercial purposes in relation to our interest in Asamoah Gyan and other top-notch players to beef up our squad ahead of the upcoming season.”
A deal to join Kumasi-based Asante Kotoko, fell apart after the two parties failed to reach a compromise on a financial package.
Gyan is said to earn about $1 million in salary over his four-year contract and will also receive an annual salary of $250,000.
When quizzed on whether Matthew Anim Cudjoe was part of the deal, Mr. Dwomoh also explained that Legon Cities will confirm all signings or transfers to the general public, latest by Friday.
