I Dedicate My Foklex Award to My Audience – Rockson Adjei Yeboah
Head of Sports at Fox 97.9FM, Rockson Adjei Yeboah has expressed gratitude to his fans for voting massively for him to win the Ashanti Regional “Sports Host of the Year” at the 2020 Foklex Media Award.
The Ashanti Regional “Sports Host of the Year” and anchor of Fox 97.9 FM’s mid-morning sports show, Rockson Adjei Yeboah has dedicated his 2020 Foklex Media Award to his teeming fans.
Expressing excitement after receiving the award on Saturday, August 29 in Accra, Mr. Adjei Yeboah mentioned that without the support, love, and reviews from his listeners, he would not have come that far.
This is the second time, the avid sports presenter who has carved a niche for himself is receiving the vote-based award.
The Foklex Media Awards in its 7th edition, and organized by Foklex Media Production, celebrates broadcasters who have excelled in their various disciplines.
Rockson faced off with 6 other sports broadcasters in the “Sports Host of the Year” category.
“Once I have worked so hard, I knew I was going to win. Working hard simply means taking my job seriously, taking my content seriously, and giving the best that I can to my listeners and viewers. If you’re good, you’ll have a lot of followers and for that matter in terms of voting, you’ll amass a lot of them. In fact, this award is for them. On social media, they now call me Mr. “Back-to-Back” because I won it last year and I have retained it.”
He continued that: “This award means you’re doing something that you, yourself might not be seeing it but others out there know what you’re doing. I hope to be the best in Ghana one day and after that feat, I’ll broaden my horizon and take up the mantle to be best in the whole of Africa.”
Mr. Adjei Yeboah meanwhile added that his passion remains to mentor and groom the next generation of young persons who have an interest in the sports media field.
“Grooming people is so dear to my heart; a time will come that I will not be there. Someone was before me and left. There are a whole lot of household names in this industry, some are leaving and so the point is that we need to groom somebody so that they can cater to our absence.”
He paid tribute to the Chief Executive Officer of F. Giant Broadcasting and his spouse, sports veteran “Sometymer” Otuo Acheampong, Fox FM staff, and the huge audience.
Other award winners at the Asem-based station included Nana Agyei Barima who won “Male Newscaster of the Year”, and Opoku Afriyie winning “Radio Personality of the Year”, all in the Ashanti Region.
