Multiple awards winning Ghanaian gospel musician, Joe Mettle, has advised publishers to desist from spreading fake news, especially about celebrities.
He made this known in an interview where the “Bo Noo Ni” hitmaker stated that people should understand that celebrities aside them being public “toys” have their personal lives and such news about them may result in damning consequences.
Joe Mettle further disclosed that fake news also affects their brands especially outside Ghana and can lead to them losing business.
He recounted how he had to debunk a false publication about him to some people outside Ghana to keep a contract.
“How many times am I going to defend myself and how will they feel if they were in my shoes?”, he quizzed.
Mr. Mettle stated that though he has developed a tough skin to withstand such circumstances, other people may crumble and fizzle out due to the callousness of some unscrupulous people who selfishly do these things all in the name of traffic.
