Girls Advised Not To Joke With Their Studies

As Ghana joined the rest of the world on Monday 11th October 2021 to celebrate this year's International Day of the Girl Child under the theme, "Digital Generation, Our Generation", the Bono East regional Department of Gender and Techiman Municipal Education directorate as part of activities to mark the day organized a symposium and Quiz competition for girls selected from Junior and Senior High Schools.

Speaking in an interview with the media during the celebration, Mr John Kwadwo Amissah Techiman Municipal Director of Ghana Education Service taking a cue from the saying that "if you educate a man, you educate an individual but if you educate a woman, you educate a nation" expressed satisfaction about girls' enrollment in schools outnumbering the boys.

On his part, Mr George Yaw Ankamah Regional Director of Department of Children in charge of Bono, Bono East and Ahafo advised children to take their studies seriously and shun away from negative aspects of technology or social media.

Aid for Girls Foundation (N.G.O) sponsored the Quiz competition on ICT/Digitization and Menstrual Hygiene which saw girls from Techiman Senior High School (Super TESS) emerging as winners over their contenders from three (3) other second cycle schools in the Techiman municipality.

For her part, Mrs Ellen Whyte Techiman Municipal Girl Child Education Coordinator pleaded with Parents to be watchdogs over their children in order not to leave them to the mercy of irresponsible peers or adults.

Finally, Hon. Lawyer Elizabeth Ofosu Agyare NDC Member of Parliament for Techiman North constituency reiterated that being the only female MP in Bono East region, she was committed to serve as a “Role Model” to the girls and also pledged to help improve their ICT learning.
