Encourage Female Students To Study Technical Courses In Schools-Parents Told
Parents and teachers have been urged to encourage female students to take a keen interest in the study of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) STEM-based courses. Madam Harriet Nyarko Annim Project officer of Invest in Her, a project established by a Canadian based organization called Farm Radio international to empower young ladies stated if the female students study TVET courses in technical schools they can be engineers, welders, solar technicians, mechanics or electricians.

Madam Harriet Nyarko Annim Project officer of Invest in Her, a project established by a Canadian based organization called Farm Radio international to empower young ladies stated if the female students study TVET courses in technical schools they can be engineers, welders, solar technicians, mechanics or electricians.
Therefore, she pleaded with parents to desist from influencing their wards to study bookish courses and programmes in schools due to public misconception that technical professions are for men only.
In an interview with the media during the organization programme at Kumasi NVTI, Madam Harriet Nyarko said if the female students are encouraged by their teachers also, it motivates them to deepen their interest in the TVET courses in schools which at the end of the schooling it assists them to be self-employed and relieve them from financial handicap.
Mr Richard Addo Gyamfi, principal of NVTI Kumasi for his side indicated that there are so many opportunities for female students after studying the technical courses in various technical schools in the country.
