ECOWAS Has No Right To Block Third Term In Government-ECOWAS Chairman

The chairman for the West Africa bloc, that is Economic Community of West Africa States, ECOWAS, Nana Akuffo Addo has said that, the bloc has no right to stop any member state government from entrenching his or her constitution for a third term in office. According to Nana Addo, once, ECOWAS did not stop the president of Cote d'Ivoire and that of Guinea, the bloc has no moral right to stop any other country from embarking on such an agenda.

The chairman for the West Africa bloc, that is Economic Community of West Africa States, ECOWAS, Nana Akuffo Addo has said that the bloc has no right to stop any member state government from entrenching his or her constitution for a third term in office.

According to Nana Addo, once, ECOWAS did not stop the president of Cote d'Ivoire and that of Guinea, the bloc has no moral right to stop any other country from embarking on such an agenda.

The president made these remarks as part of his four days thank you  tour to the Ashanti Region when he spoke on a local radio station in Kumasi.

Nana Addo said, in spite of what has happened in Guinea because of the entrenched third term in office, measures are being put in place to reorganize the bloc from embarking on such trends which could lead to overthrowing of constitutional government
