A 28-seater toilet facility has been commissioned at Asawasi West, a community within the Asokore Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

A 28-seater toilet facility has been commissioned at Asawasi West, a community within the Asokore Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

The official commissioning brought together town folks, opinion leaders, Unit Committee members, and other assembly members within the Municipality.

The project was undertaken jointly by the Assembly Member, Hon Sir Gideon Okai, and his Unit committee members.

According to the Assemblymember, it was critical to construct this place of convenience for the inhabitants to maintain a high level of sanity and hygiene.

“Even though I faced a lot of challenges after making it public that I want to demolish the older facility to commence the construction of this new facility but I was determined and focus to get this facility for the people of Asawasi because the older facility was a threat to the people due to its deplorable nature.

Hon. Gideon Okai who spoke to Fox FM news reporter, Ekuoba Gyasi after the commissioning took the opportunity to appeal to the community to maintain the facility to last longer.

He pledged the facility was just a tip of an iceberg and therefore added that through his lobbying skills he was going to work hard to bring more developmental projects into the area but needed the support of the people.

Hon. Martin Amissah the Presiding member for the Municipality who doubles as the Assembly Member for Asawasi East electoral area who represented the Assembly charge the community to help maintain the facility to last longer.

He further charged the contractor Mr. Owusu Tarkyi, CEO of Kapo Enterprise to visit the facility regularly to ensure that the facility is in good condition.
