Amansie West Small Scale Mining Association And NADMO Embarks On Reclamation Of Degraded Lands Destroyed By Ilegal Mining

As part of the government measures putting in place to reclaim the country’s land surface which has allegedly been degraded by illegal mining and other bad environmental activities, the Amansie West Small Scale Mining Association in collaboration with the NADMO in the district, today have embarked on land reclamation project to cover the abandoned pits by illegal miners in the district.

As part of the government measures putting in place to reclaim the country’s land surface which has allegedly been degraded by illegal mining and other bad environmental activities, the Amansie West Small Scale Mining Association in collaboration with the NADMO in the district, today have embarked on land reclamation project to cover the abandoned pits by illegal miners in the district.

The vice-chairman of the Amansie West Small Scale Mining Association, Mr Joseph Mensah (Buyer Joe) charged the miners to make sure that their abandoned pits are to be recovered to protect lives and property, the environment, River bodies and the forest.

He, therefore, sends a word of caution to the members that; they Will support the government to prosecute those Who Will fail to reclaim uncovered pits by the illegal Miners in the various mining sites.

However, the Forman of Joap and Andrew Joe Mining Company at Amansie West district Mr Kwaku Appiah also commended the Small-Scale Mining Association and NADMO for the tremendous job they are doing in the district to make sure that abandoned pits are to be covered.
