People at Upper Axim Traditional Area of the Nzema East Municipality got the shock of their lives as they woke up to see 60 dead dolphins have been washed ashore at Brawire beach.
According to reports, these dead mammals were believed to have swallowed some unknown poisonous substances following a similar incident at the shores of Osu Beach, where some fishes also suspected to be poisoned lied at the edge of the coast.
Although the cause of death is unknown, the chiefs and people of Axim Brewire have called on the relevant stakeholders to immediately investigate the situation to determine the cause of the problem and prevent any further occurrences of that nature.
Meanwhile, some residents in the Western regional village of Brawire near Axim have butchered 7 dolphins that were washed ashore dead and sold them off to fishmongers.
